UFC 262: Oliveira vs. Chandler Picks

Amanda Ribas fight got canceled last week, going 1-0 with Marina Rodriguez (-250) makes for a mediocre week. Last Delinquent Fight picks post in college. Starting next week Ill be able to focus and work on the site. Wish I could be in person for UFC 262.

A stellar match up between two of my favorite fighters in the light weight division. Understand the frustration with Michael Chandler already having a title fight after one win in the UFC. Regardless, whether you are happy about the title fight or not it will be an amazing.

Fans are back, 261 was the last event we had live fans. Out of the 13 total fights 9 ended by stoppage. Something is in the air as soon as fans are in the building. Let’s breakdown UFC 262!

Michael Chandler (+105) vs Charles Oliveira (-135)

Risky fight to bet on? Could be, but everything is risky when you bet on a UFC fight. Man oh man, I love both of these fighters, had to throw my two cents in the mix. Oliveira is on an undeniable path of destructing in the Lightweight division. A menacing 8 fight winning streak and is now fighting ex Bellator champion Michael Chandler. Oliveira being the black belt in BJJ could have the advantage on the ground. However Michael Chandler’s takedown defense is out of this world, never being submitted in any of his 27 professional fights. A training partner like Gilbert Burns definitely helps when it comes to facing dominant ground opponents. If Oliveira struggles and can not take Chandler to the ground, do Bronx could be in for a world of hurt. Chandler holds the advantage in the striking department, which is going to be frustrating for Oliveira to surpass. Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira potentially could be fight of the year. Chandler has never been submitted, has the wrestling credentials to possible deal with Oliveira’s BJJ and holds the clear advantage in the striking department makes him my pick. Plus I love betting on the underdog when the fight is so close on paper. Damn I’m excited for this main event!

Michael Chandler (+105)

Beneil Dariush (-160) vs Tony Ferguson (+130)

Broke down the main event fight, might as well do the co-main. Maybe could have been nicer to Tony when doing the breakdown for his fight against Charles Oliveira (predicted correctly). “Tony Ferguson’s last two opponents were cowboy who won the fist round before doctor stoppage. Then Anthony Pettis, who dropped Ferguson twice. The Gaethje fight created a blue print on Tony Ferguson.” The truth hurts. Tony Ferguson is 37 years old and suffered serious injuries in the Gaethje fight. I sound like a Tony Ferguson hater, but I am not by any means. Met him in Vegas once, wicked nice and very down to earth. Tremendous amount of respect for him after that interaction. From a fighter perspective I just am not sure how much is left for him. Beneil “Benny” Dariush is coming into his prime and holds the momentum, running on a 6 fight win streak. Gotta go with the hot hand Dariush here.

Beneil Dariush (-160)

Jamie Pickett (-115) vs Jordan Wright (-115)

Pick em fight? You kidding me Vegas? Jordan Wright is more hype then skill. Think Vegas may be buying into the hype. Pickett holds a 3 inch reach advantage and is going to use that to pick Wright apart. Jordan Wright eats opposing blows for breakfast lunch and dinner. According to http://ufcstats.com/ in Wrights last 3 fights, he absorbed 8.02 strikes per min. Disgusting. Zero chance of sustaining longevity in the UFC with stats like that. Can you tell I bet on Jordan Wright before? Give me Jamie Pickett by Knock out.

Jamie Pickett (-115)

The final Delinquent MMA post of my college career. I appreciate the constant support you have shown while I been in the beginning phases. From next week on Ill have time and money to invest. I’m creating something new, I have no blue print to follow. Interesting ride you and I are taking in these next couple months, buckle up and enjoy!
