Bia Mesquita

Beatriz "Bia" Mesquita is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the women's bantamweight division of the UFC. Fighting under the nickname "The Lady GOAT," she is regarded as one of the most decorated grapplers ever to transition into MMA.

Mesquita was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, where she began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a child under longtime coach Leticia Ribeiro at Gracie Humaita. She built a legendary competitive grappling career over more than a decade before turning her attention to professional MMA. For her transition to mixed martial arts, she relocated her training to American Top Team in Florida, working under head coach Marcos "Parrumpa" Da Matta to round out her striking and overall game.

The centerpiece of Mesquita's resume is her standing as a 10-time IBJJF World Champion at black belt, earned across multiple divisions over the course of her career. She has also medaled at the ADCC World Championship and is an inductee of the IBJJF Hall of Fame, placing her among the greatest competitors in the sport's history.

In MMA, Mesquita's game is built on elite submission grappling. She uses relentless top pressure, superior positional control, and technical precision to hunt for finishes, most frequently by rear-naked choke, and her grappling pedigree makes her a threat to end a fight from nearly any position on the mat.
