Bo Nickal

Bo Nickal is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the middleweight division of the UFC.

Nickal grew up in Rifle, Colorado, and built his foundation on the wrestling mat long before ever stepping into a cage. After a decorated collegiate wrestling career at Pennsylvania State University, he transitioned into mixed martial arts, turning professional and building his team at American Top Team's Pennsylvania facility in the State College area.

Nickal's wrestling résumé is among the most decorated in American collegiate history. Competing for Penn State in the NCAA, he won three consecutive Division I national championships and capped his career with the Dan Hodge Trophy, wrestling's answer to the Heisman, awarded to the sport's most outstanding collegiate wrestler. He was also a Big Ten Athlete of the Year, a two-time winner of the Schalles Award for his pinning ability, and a U23 World Champion in freestyle wrestling, establishing himself as one of the most dominant amateur wrestlers of his generation before he ever competed in MMA.

That wrestling pedigree carries directly into his cage performances. A southpaw, Nickal builds his game around elite takedowns, relentless top control and heavy ground-and-pound, paired with a steadily developing submission arsenal as a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He grinds opponents down against the fence or on the mat and is equally capable of finishing fights once he establishes dominant position, making him dangerous everywhere the fight goes.

Nickal's path to the roster ran through Dana White's Contender Series, where consecutive first-round submission finishes earned him a UFC contract. Since arriving in the promotion, he has delivered performances that showcase his grappling pedigree, including a submission finish of Cody Brundage, a unanimous decision over veteran Paul Craig, and a highlight-reel head-kick knockout of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist Rodolfo Vieira
