Farid Basharat

Farid Basharat, known by the nickname "Ferocious," is an Afghan-born fighter who competes in the bantamweight division of the UFC.

Basharat was born in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, and left the country as a child with his mother and older brother amid the unrest that followed decades of conflict there. After a period as refugees, the family reunited with his father in England, ultimately settling in London, where Basharat was raised. His older brother, Javid Basharat, followed a parallel path into the sport and also went on to compete in the UFC's bantamweight ranks, with the siblings pushing one another throughout their development as fighters.

Basharat's combat sports foundation began with taekwondo before he transitioned into mixed martial arts, building an undefeated record on the regional English MMA circuit. He earned his spot on the UFC roster after a decision win on Dana White's Contender Series, a credential that speaks to his standing among the sport's up-and-coming prospects.

Inside the cage, Basharat has established himself as a grappling-oriented fighter who trains out of American Top Team. He has shown a strong submission game, particularly with the rear-naked choke and arm-triangle choke, while also displaying enough striking variety to keep opponents honest on the feet.

Basharat made his promotional debut with a unanimous decision win over Da'Mon Blackshear at UFC 285, announcing himself on the biggest stage in the sport. He went on to add a submission victory over Kleydson Rodrigues and a decision win over Taylor Lapilus
