Gabriel Bonfim

Gabriel de Souza Bonfim, known to fight fans as "Marretinha" ("Little Hammer," a nod to his older brother Ismael's own nickname, "Marreta"), is a Brazilian welterweight competing in the UFC.

Raised in Brasília, Bonfim was introduced to martial arts by his eldest brother and got his start in boxing before immersing himself in jiu-jitsu and wrestling. He rose through Brazil's regional circuit alongside his brother Ismael Bonfim, with both siblings earning UFC contracts through Dana White's Contender Series and debuting together on the same card. Bonfim sharpened his early game at Cerrado MMA, training alongside established UFC standouts, before he and Ismael went on to found their own gym, Bonfim Brothers, back home in Brasília.

His grappling pedigree runs deep. The Bonfim brothers built their games from childhood under respected coaches in Brasília's jiu-jitsu community, and Gabriel has carried that foundation into a UFC career defined by high-level submission grappling and consistent finishing ability.

In the cage, Bonfim is a patient, technical operator who prefers to let a fight develop rather than force the action. His length and forward pressure set up scrambles and chokes, and few welterweights close the show with a tighter guillotine or brabo choke once a fight hits the mat. That submission threat also opens up his striking, forcing opponents to respect the takedown and choke chain even when he is working behind his jab.

Bonfim's UFC tenure has been marked by highlight-reel finishes, including a lightning-fast guillotine submission of Mounir Lazzez in his promotional debut, a first-round guillotine stoppage of Trevin Giles, and a technical submission win over Khaos Williams. He has also delivered one of the more memorable striking performances of his career in a hard-fought main-card clash with veteran Stephen Thompson
