Mario Pinto

Mario Pinto is a Portuguese heavyweight competing in the UFC. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, and raised in Camden, North London, he represents both his birthplace and his adopted home whenever he steps into the cage.

Pinto turned professional in 2021 and built his name on the regional circuit in the United Kingdom and Europe, taking on the sport methodically rather than rushing toward the bright lights. He captured the Levels Fight League heavyweight title and, in March 2023, tested his conditioning and durability by competing in a one-night, three-fight grand prix. He has said he deliberately built an undefeated record before entertaining offers from the UFC, preferring to gain rounds and experience rather than be "fed to the sharks" too early.

Pinto trains out of FightZone London under head coach Stuart Austin, where his approach has been refined into what he calls a hybrid heavyweight style: mobile, technical striking built around a probing jab, paired with well-rounded grappling. Rather than hunting for a single fight-ending blow, he embraces a patient, high-volume approach he has described as "death by a thousand cuts," content to grind out rounds and let his aggregate work carry him to the finish.

He earned his UFC contract with a knockout win over Lucas Triverio Camacho on Dana White's Contender Series in October 2024. He made his promotional debut on March 1, 2025, stopping Austen Lane with a second-round knockout that earned him a Performance of the Night bonus. He followed that with a second-round finish of Brazilian prospect Jhonata Diniz at a UFC Fight Night card in Rio de Janeiro, a night he capped by addressing the crowd in Portuguese before switching to English, a gesture that endeared him to Brazilian fans.

Undefeated through his career to date, Pinto has framed his ambitions in broad terms, speaking openly about wanting to be remembered among the sport's greats while carrying the banner for Portugal, British MMA, and European MMA as a whole.
