Roman Kopylov

Roman Kopylov, nicknamed "Ferrari," is a Russian mixed martial artist competing in the middleweight division of the UFC. Born in the Kemerovo Oblast region of Russia, he grew up training in combat sports from a young age under the guidance of parents who were themselves former athletes, eventually settling into a striking-heavy approach that has become his calling card inside the Octagon.

Before transitioning to mixed martial arts, Kopylov built an extensive amateur combat sports resume, compiling multiple world and European titles in hand-to-hand combat and combat sambo disciplines. That foundation in explosive, technical striking carried directly into his MMA career, which began in 2016. He rose through the Russian regional circuit, captured the Fight Nights Global middleweight title, and built a reputation as one of the hardest-hitting prospects to come out of the region before signing with the UFC in 2019.

Fighting out of Russia, Kopylov is known for his southpaw stance, heavy hands, and a diverse striking arsenal that includes vicious body work and finishing head kicks. His ability to close distance behind combinations and end fights in spectacular fashion has made him one of the division's most dangerous finishers, while his takedown defense has consistently ranked among the best in the middleweight division.

Inside the UFC, Kopylov has delivered a string of highlight-reel finishes, including a body-shot knockout of Josh Fremd, a lightning-fast head kick knockout of Claudio Ribeiro, and a thunderous head kick finish of Chris Curtis that earned a Fight of the Night bonus. He has also collected multiple Performance of the Night awards for his violent finishing ability.
