Recap: UFC Fight Night Vettori vs. Cannonier

The past weekend has the MMA world shook, with the various events happening. One beginning UFC Fight Night Vettori vs Cannonier, with a numerous combination of so many unpredictable moments. One of the highlights of the Preliminary card was a flyweight bout between Carlos Hernandez (9-2) and Denys Bondar (16-5).

The fight was all around explosive, however, the third round changed the whole outcome of the fight. In the final seconds, Hernandez has gotten hold of Bondar and took him down. Once grounded, Hernandez unleashed a flurry of many elbows to reach the finish a second before the fight ended. When officials reviewed the footage, it was revealed that there was a clash of heads on the takedown that had knocked Bondar out rather than the flurry of elbows. Hernandez was not given the knockout finish, and instead, the fight went to the scorecards where Hernandez was awarded a technical decision.

Some notable moments throughout the card; Nicolas Dalby putting on an upset on Muslim Salikhov and Dalby winning on the scorecards. Manuel Torres with an electrifying knockout on Nikolas Motta in round one. Pat Sabatini submitted Lucas Almeida in round 2 via arm-triangle choke. Armen Petrosyan put on an absolute dominant performance against Christian Leroy Duncan and won on the scorecards unanimously.

As for the co-main Arman Tsarukyan took on Joaquim Silva, Tsarukyan had been in control of the fight and Silva had landed a few shots. Silva landed a left hook in the second round that had Tsarukyan wobbled however Tsarukyan took Silva down and got through the round. In the third, Tsarukyan came back and turned on the jets with an astounding comeback and managed to get a TKO. All around this card delivered so many entertaining and thrilling moments.

The Main Event Marvin Vettori vs Jared Cannonier

In conclusion, It was an epic middleweight matchup between the number 3-ranked Marvin Vettori and the number 4-ranked Jared Cannonier. At the start of the match, Vettori had rocked Cannonier many times with brutal left hands. This proved no dreadful fate for Cannonier as he came back and put on an epic barn burner.

Dominating Vettori and cutting Vettori’s nose and eyes for the rest of the fight. Ultimately, Cannonier won by unanimous decision and proceeded to call for a title shot or a number one contention fight. After putting on a dominant victory like that, Cannonier should clearly be in talk of title contention.
