UFC 265: Lewis vs. Gane Betting Guide

Derrick Lewis (+290) vs. Ciryl Gane (-380)

“All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes” -Winston Churchill. Hand up, I advised taking Curtis Blaydes against Derrick Lewis when the odds were similar. Now, learning from my horrible mistake, I am advising you to take Derrick Lewis.

If we learned one key detail from the Blaydes fight, it’s that MMA does not work on Lewis.Gane said in an interview with Brett Okamoto that he asked his training partners just to throw bombs. Gane knows the right hand bomb is coming, but the question is, can he withstand it?

Lewis has the benefit of training for two slightly similar styled opponents back to back. Plus Lewis has one X factor that Gane won’t be able to replicate. The hometown support from the Houston fans.

When you include the X factor, Derrick Lewis straight a very appetizing bet. Which makes betting DLew by KO/TKO at (+450) a damn buffet. The only way Lewis wins is if he catches Gane.

Vicente Luque (-120) vs. Michael Chiesa (+100)

Vicente Luque vs Michael Chiesa is a great fight. Luque is definitely the better striker and Chiesa has the clear advantage on the ground. Which makes one interesting chess match.

Chiesa is a safe defensive fighter which will help him against a dangerous striker. Chiesa’s pressure could pose problems for Luque, especially if he looks to engage in Chiesa’s clinch. Seeing Chiesa as the dog makes it hard not to bet on him.

Going to roll the dice and bet on Chiesa. Hope he finds a way to get this fight to the ground and control the pace.

Yadong Song (-110) vs. Casey Kenney (-110)

Love weighing in on a pick em fight. Yadong Song did not impress me in his last performance against Kyler Phillips. Song does not look comfortable if he is not controlling the pace. His cardio also started to fade him deeper in the fight. Which sets him up poorly against a fighter like Casey Kenney.

Kenney had a really tough match up in his last fight against Dominick Cruz. Even though he lost by split decision, it’s one of those losses where you can learn from your mistakes. If Kenney sets the tempo for this fight the victory should be his. Keeping it short and sweet, betting on Casey Kenney.

Rafael Fiziev (-320) vs. Bobby Green (+250)

Rafael Fiziev seems to be a guy no one wants to fight. He should be fighting someone in the top 15. Instead the hungry 28 years old matches up against Bobby Green. Green has been in the UFC for 8 years now and has never really found his stride. Whereas Fiziev has been in the UFC for 2 years, and people are already having conversations about him being a contender.

I could see it, Fiziev striking might rank amongst some of the best in the entire lightweight division. Not much for me to break down here, the odds do most of the talking. After Bobby Green, we deserve to see Fiziev against a top 15 guy.
