The highly anticipated title rematch between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski will headline UFC 294. See predictions and odds here in the UFC 294 Betting Guide.
With the last minute additions of Alexander Volkanovski and Kamaru Usman. UFC 294 went from good to great in 48 hours.
Islam Makhachev (-270) vs. Alexander Volkanovski (+230)
After Charles Oliveira withdrew due to a cut, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will step in on less than two weeks’ notice to challenge lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.
Volkanovski is entering this match-up with no pressure to win, which might be the key to his success. All the pressure is on Makhachev, as he had an entire training camp. Volkanovski came off his couch.
Makhachev’s original game plan went out of the window. As Oliveira and Volkanovski are polar opposites. Volkanovski will be in your face the entire time, looking for counters. Whereas Oliveira stays back and uses his range.
Volkanovski is a savage for taking this rematch on twelve days’ notice. The nothing-to-loose mentality could be the winning factor here. Betting on the underdog, Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC 294 main event.
Bet: Alexander Volkanovski
Kamaru Usman (+225) vs. Khamzat Chimaev (-275)
Due to an elbow infection, Paulo Costa wasn’t cleared to fight Chimaev. He will now face short-notice replacement Kamaru Usman in a middleweight bout in Saturday’s UFC 294 co-main event.
Kamaru Usman dominated the UFC for eight years straight. He has the second-largest winning streak in UFC history, 15 consecutive victories, just one shy of Anderson Silva’s record. Plus, Usman is impossible to takedown. He holds the record for all time takedown defense at 97.3%.
The passengers on the Chimaev hype train will be upset. But how do you look at a guy like Usman and bet against him with 2-1 odds? Usman is talked about as one of the greatest welterweights of all time. Now you get the opportunity to bet on him, as an underdog, in the prime of his career. Sign me up.
Gilbert Burns presented Chimaev with his toughest challenge yet. As seen on Twitter, Burns and Usman are training together once again. Did the gambling gods bless us with an opportunity?
Bet: Kamaru Usman
Javid Basharat (-550) vs. Victor Henry (+410)
The skillset Javid Basharat possesses is extremely admirable. The dynamic striking paired with his fluid footwork, makes him a much watch prospect.
The line is disgusting. I’d look to play Basharat by decision at (-150). Skillset wise, Victor Henry isn’t exceptional anywhere. But he is a tough MF. Henry’s fought 29 times and has never been finished.
All though, it might be smarter to take the free money and bet on Basharat straight up. The last time I recommended betting on Farid Basharat (Javid’s brother) by decision, and he submitted his opponent in the first round.
Bet: Javid Basharat
