UFC 261 was an unbelievable card, happy fans got to witness that event in person. A historic night all around. Usman is making a case for the best welterweight of all time. Thug Rose’s perfectly timed head kick to knock out Weili Zhang had me on my feet. Valentina just stays dominating the flyweight division.
Didn’t to do bad with the fight picks, going 2-1. We won off a crazy leg injury and lost on a crazy leg injury. I was showing my buddy when Weidman checked Silva’s leg kick back in the day. The fact that we ended up witnessing the same injury is banana land. Makes Uriah Hall the first UFC fighter to win without throwing a strike.
UFC Vegas 25 is a comedown after a massive bender which was UFC 261.10 cancelled fights for this card already. Breaking down the card, I’m struggling from a betting stance. Trying to turn water into beer might be easier than finding good valued fight picks for this card.
Jiří Procházka (-145) vs Dominick Reyes (+115)
I figured this line would be a slightly closer. Prior to his UFC debut knock out over Volkan Oezdemir, Procházka has been on a dominate 10 fight win streak. Looking at the stats, Procházka holds a 3 inch reach advantage while also lands 1.14 more significant strikers per minute than Reyes. Theses stats will play a huge factor seeing Reyes never takes the fight to the ground. Procházka also holds the experience edge, having 17 more professional fights than Reyes. Procházka was offered a UFC contact back in the day but he denied it, wanting to enter the league in his prime.
Procházka fought Oezdemir, the same way you expect a Moose in a memorabilia shop on meth to act. Completely wild and it doesn’t make much sense. In Jiří’s training camp video he reflects on the Oezdemir fight saying “I know that Jiri would not stand a chance against Reyes.” He also mentions, “Upgraded my style to professional UFC fighting style.” A completely different UFC fighter will be on display Saturday night. Plus Procházka is crazy, I don’t think Vegas considers crazy when they make odds. After writing this, I convinced myself to make Jiří Procházka my whale play.
Jiří Procházka (-145)
Cub Swanson (+165) vs Giga Chikadze (-195)
Cub Swanson looked very impressive in his last two fights, plus he’s the underdog, love it. Giga Chikadze is on a pretty non convincing 7 win streak in my opinion, and I feel like he is due for a loss. Greg Jackson is a phenomenal coach, who hopefully is telling Cub to pressure, and get the fight to the ground. Some people forget, Cub Swanson is BJJ black belt. Cub has 24 more professional mix materials arts fights over Giga Chikadze. When it comes to betting on UFC, experience is a factor you can not over look. Cub Swanson throws an average of 1.19 more significant strikes per minute than Chikadze. Could be in for a very interesting match up between these two. Swanson’s last win was a knock out victory over Daniel Pineda, who has not been knocked out since 2012. Granted Cub Swanson is a risky bet, but the value is enticing, how do you pass on it?
Cub Swanson (+165)
Yeah yeah yeah I hear you complain because I only have two fight picks this week I get it. Been crazy busy with classes coming to an end, job interviews and making moves behind the scenes. I didn’t want to force another pick I did not feel strongly for.
