Loma Lookboonmee

Loma Lookboonmee is a Thai mixed martial artist who competes in the women's strawweight division of the UFC. Born and raised in Buriram, Thailand, she grew up in a family that ran a local gym and began training in Muay Thai as a young girl, eventually competing against boys due to a shortage of female opponents in her region.

Before moving into mixed martial arts, Lookboonmee built an extensive amateur and professional Muay Thai resume. She represented Thailand on the national team and earned gold medals at the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) World Championships, along with an S-1 World title. She also competed at some of Thailand's most storied venues, including Lumpinee Stadium and Rajadamnern Stadium, cementing her status as one of the most accomplished female Muay Thai fighters of her generation. These credentials are historical records from a separate career and will not go stale.

Lookboonmee transitioned to mixed martial arts in the late 2010s, training out of Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket. After compiling a winning record across promotions including Invicta Fighting Championships and Pancrase, she signed with the UFC in 2019, becoming the first fighter from Thailand to join the organization's roster. She made her Octagon debut that October in Singapore, defeating Aleksandra Albu by decision.

Inside the cage, Lookboonmee's game is built around her Muay Thai foundation: sharp striking combinations, a dangerous clinch, and the ability to control range and tempo against opponents. She has rounded out that base with boxing, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training, earning a purple belt, giving her a more complete and adaptable style inside the Octagon.

Beyond her in-cage resume, Lookboonmee's broader legacy is tied to her role as a trailblazer. As the first Thai fighter signed to the UFC, she opened the door for a wave of Thai talent to pursue careers in mixed martial arts and helped raise the sport's profile throughout Thailand, a country long defined by its own Muay Thai tradition.
