Tracy Cortez

Tracy Cortez is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the women's flyweight division of the UFC. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, in a family of Mexican immigrants, Cortez grew up around wrestling, watching her older brothers train and compete, and picked up an early feel for grappling exchanges even though, by her own account, she rarely got extended time on the mat herself as a kid.

She turned that wrestling-influenced foundation into a mixed martial arts career, building an undefeated amateur record on the regional and national amateur circuits before signing with Invicta Fighting Championships in 2017. After competing in Invicta FC, she earned a spot on the UFC roster and made her promotional debut in November 2019.

Cortez has trained out of Fight Ready MMA in the Phoenix area, sharpening a pressure-forward, wrestling-based style built around forward movement, clinch control, and a grinding pace meant to wear opponents down over the course of a fight. Rather than hunting for a single highlight-reel finish, she leans on conditioning, positional control, and volume to take over rounds, an approach that has made her one of the more disciplined, durable competitors in the flyweight division.

Across her career, Cortez has recorded notable wins over Justine Kish, Melissa Gatto, and Jasmine Jasudavicius inside the Octagon, a unanimous decision over former title challenger Viviane Araújo, and an earlier win over future top contender Erin Blanchfield
