UFC 303 International Fight Week concluded last night (June 29, 2024) in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring a light heavyweight title fight that saw Alex Pereira defeat Jiri Prochazka via second-round TKO to retain his world title. The original headliner Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, fell apart. Diego Lopes defeated Dan Ige, who accepted the fight on four hours’ notice after Brian Ortega withdrew.
If Alex Pereira gets his wish after UFC 303, he will fight for a title in a third division after cleaning out the light heavyweight division. The legend of Poatan keeps growing.
Before the fight started, Pereira and Prochazka stared into one another soles for the most intense stare down of all time.
Pereira proved superior from the opening bell on Saturday, frustrating and punishing Prochazka every time he tried to initiate exchanges. A left hook flattened Prochazka in the final seconds of the first round. The second round was over before it started. Pereira marched forward and immediately launched a high kick that slammed into the side of Procházka’s head. Just like that, the fight was over 13 seconds into the second round.

With the win, Pereira records his second light heavyweight title defense while extending his winning streak to four. Pereira won the vacant title by defeating Prochazka at UFC 295 and successfully defended for the first time against Jamahal Hill in April at UFC 300.
