Check out the betting guide for International Fight Week, UFC 303 Pereira vs. Prochazka 2. Here you will learn how to place the best bets for this massive UFC pay per view (PPV) event.
Conor McGregor will no longer fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas. McGregor suffered a toe injury before the press conference in Dublin. The new main event for International Fight Week is a light heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. In addition, Diego Lopes will face Brian Ortega in the co-main event, after Jamahal Hill pulled out.
UFC 303 Betting Strategy
UFC Saudi Arabia Recap: Robert Whittaker by KO/TKO (+215) might have been the easiest call of all time. Delinquent MMA is on an absolute heater right now. Alex Pereira (-140) vs. Jiri Prochazka (+110)
When Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka fought for the first time, our money was on Prochazka. Mainly because Pereira only had one other fight at light heavyweight. In addition, the uncertainty about whether he could continue to fight up a weight class. After three fights in at 205 lbs, it’s fair to say he fits right in.
For some reason, Pereira has better odds in the rematch. Granted the first stoppage was somewhat controversial. Poatan won via TKO in the second round.
Even though Prochazka won against Aleksandar Rakic, his performance did not instill any confidence. If anything, it showed how little fight IQ he truly has. Jiri’s legs will give out if he implements the same strategy against Pereira. It seems clear that Alex Pereira is the best bet you could possible place.
If you are chasing a splash of more value, bet on Alex Pereira by KO/TKO (-120).
Bet: Alex Pereira
Diego Lopes (-140) vs. Brian Ortega (+130)
Everyone loves the newest and shiniest toy. Diego Lopes is the hottest prospect on the market right now. Only four fights into the UFC, he’s already accumulated a massive fan base. Some OGs and pioneers don’t have a fraction of Lopes’s fan base. Leading us to forget the greats that came before the rising superstar.
Brian Ortega has fought at the top of the division for years. Extremely surprising to see him open as an underdog. The strength in schedule is incomparable. Ortega fought Alexander Volkanovski for the world title a little over two and a half years ago. He’s faced the highest level of competition since 2014. T-City used to be that shiny toy, but once you rack up a couple of losses, the world won’t see you in the same light.
Lopes starts incredibly fast. He’s coming off of three first-round finishes in a row. Where Ortega starts slowly, gauging his opponent, getting reads, and finding his distance. If Lopes is to beat Ortega, it will happen in the first round (Lopes wins in round 1 +325). However, if Ortega can withstand the initial barrage, he should be able to win.
The straight value on Brian Ortega is too good to pass up. Besides two doctor stoppages, Ortega has never been finished. In addition, he’s constantly improving all aspects of his game. The world will remember T-City on Saturday.
Bet: Brian Ortega
Ian Machado Garry (-130) vs. Michael Page (+110)
Ian Garry vs Michael Page will be a kickboxing match. The two have similar styles of keeping their distance and counter-striking. Which could lead to a boring fight.
MVP is known for his crisp striking abilities, using angles and deception to land devastating shots. We could see Garry and Page dance around each other for 15 minutes. However, if Page starts winning small exchanges, those will add up on the judge’s scorecard. Patience can go a long way in these battles. Garry could get frustrated with the lack of activity, leading him to get aggressive and take a risk. An unfamiliar approach for him that could lead him into a knee or hook.
Page is a specialist. As we saw with Holland, MVP forces you to fight his style of fight. It’s a challenging task to overcome, especially for someone young in their mixed martial arts career. The line seems wrong here. Michael Venom Page is the clear favorite in my mind.
Bet: Michael Page
The UFC returns to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, without Conor McGregor, because he broke his toe. Alex Pereira saves the day, agreeing to rematch former division champion, Jiri Prochazka for the main event. For the UFC 303’s co-headliner, Featherweight contender, Brian Ortega, will attempt to halt the rise of red-hot surging 145-pound prospect Diego Lopes. UFC 303’s PPV main card will also feature Anthony Smith vs. Roman Dolidze and Ian Garry vs. Michael “Venom” Page. UFC 303 start time is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET (Prelims) and 10 p.m. ET (PPV).
