Lerone Murphy

Lerone Murphy, known as "The Miracle," is an English mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division of the UFC. Born and raised in Old Trafford, Manchester, he is regarded as one of Britain's premier featherweight talents.

Before turning to combat sports, Murphy pursued a career in football, training with the youth setups of Liverpool F.C. and Stockport County before a serious knee injury at 16 ended those ambitions. He found his way into fighting through his uncle, Manchester boxing trainer Oliver Harrison, and began training at All Powers gym in Manchester. His path was shaped by a life-altering ordeal in 2013, when he survived being shot multiple times outside a barber shop in the city, an experience that left him with prosthetic teeth and a bullet fragment still lodged in his tongue. He channeled that resilience into martial arts, turning professional in 2016 and later relocating his training base to Manchester Top Team.

A purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Murphy pairs disciplined ground skills with a composed, high-volume boxing-based striking attack. He is known for his calm demeanor in the cage, methodical pressure, sharp counters, and the ability to finish fights with a single well-placed shot, backed by a strong top game and ground-and-pound.

Murphy signed with the UFC after building his reputation on the regional circuit, making his promotional debut in 2019. He has since compiled one of the most impressive résumés in the featherweight division, highlighted by a first-round finish of Ricardo Ramos, a knee knockout of Makwan Amirkhani, and decision wins over veteran contenders Edson Barboza, Dan Ige, and Josh Emmett.
