Career Overview

Geoffrey Neal, better known as "Handz of Steel," is an American welterweight competing in the UFC. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Neal represents the deep well of homegrown Texas talent that has helped shape the promotion's welterweight division.

Neal's path to mixed martial arts began on the gridiron; he played football at Texas Lutheran University before redirecting his competitive drive toward combat sports. He built his professional foundation in the regional Texas scene and eventually earned his opportunity on Dana White's Contender Series, where a first-round stoppage win secured him a UFC contract. Since then, he has trained out of Fortis MMA in Dallas under coach Sayif Saud, a camp known for developing well-rounded, fight-ready strikers and grapplers.

On the ground, Neal holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, giving him a credible defensive and offensive grappling base. But it is his hands that define him. A natural boxer with heavy, accurate power, Neal has built his nickname on a habit of hurting opponents standing up, mixing volume with fight-ending shots that keep him dangerous at every stage of a bout.

Across his UFC tenure, Neal has produced some of the division's most memorable finishes, including knockout victories over Frank Camacho, Niko Price, and Mike Perry, a decision win over Belal Muhammad, and a highlight-reel knockout of Vicente Luque. He also picked up a statement stoppage win over former lightweight title challenger Rafael dos Anjos. His performances against Price and Luque each earned Performance of the Night honors, and he was recognized by MMA Junkie as an under-the-radar standout early in his UFC run.

Blending Texas grit with Fortis MMA polish, Geoff Neal has carved out an identity as one of the welterweight division's most feared punchers, a fighter whose "Handz of Steel" can change a fight in an instant.
