Kai Kara-France
Kai Kara-France, known by the nickname "Don't Blink," is a New Zealand mixed martial artist who competes in the UFC flyweight division.
Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, and of Māori heritage, Kara-France began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a child before shifting his focus to striking. He earned a scholarship to Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, where he sharpened his kickboxing and Muay Thai from 2012 to 2016, competing across Asia and the Pacific along the way. He later returned home to join City Kickboxing in Auckland, the gym that has produced a wave of elite UFC talent under head coach Eugene Bareman.
Kara-France's amateur and regional credentials include the Junior New Zealand Kickboxing title and the "Bragging Rights" flyweight championship in Perth, Australia, built over a globe-spanning career that saw him fight in more than a dozen countries before reaching the sport's biggest stage. He also appeared on The Ultimate Fighter season 24 as a member of Team Cejudo.
Inside the cage, Kara-France is known for his speed, explosive power, and relentless forward pressure, blending crisp kickboxing with underrated grappling defense to make him one of the flyweight division's most dangerous finishers and most reliably exciting performers.
Since debuting with the UFC in December 2018, Kara-France has recorded notable wins over former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and previously undefeated contender Askar Askarov, and he has collected multiple Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night bonuses along the way. His career highlight came at UFC 277, where he challenged Brandon Moreno for the interim UFC flyweight championship. He later earned a shot at the undisputed flyweight title against Alexandre Pantoja
