Career Overview

Ketlen Vieira

Ketlen Vieira, known by the nickname “Fenômeno” (Portuguese for “Phenomenon”), is a Brazilian mixed martial artist from São Luís, Maranhão, who competes in the UFC Bantamweight division. Born on August 19, 1992, Vieira grew up in northeastern Brazil and pursued combat sports from a young age, developing a wrestling-heavy game built around physical strength, pressure, and top-position control that made her one of the most difficult opponents in the women’s bantamweight division.

Vieira built an impressive UFC record with wins over notable bantamweights including Miesha Tate and Yana Santos before earning a shot at Amanda Nunes’s UFC Bantamweight Championship in November 2022. Though she lost the title fight on the judges’ scorecards, her performance against the greatest women’s MMA fighter of all time was competitive and earned her widespread respect. She has continued to compete near the top of the division as one of its most physically imposing wrestlers.

Vieira’s fighting identity is defined by her physicality and durability. She presses forward relentlessly, uses her clinch game to negate opponents’ striking advantages, and transitions naturally to takedowns when exchanges become available. Her Brazilian wrestling base — combined with heavy ground-and-pound from top position — makes her one of the most exhausting opponents in the division to face, and her willingness to take risks in pursuit of finishes has earned her a loyal following among fans who appreciate pressure-based styles.
