Khalil Rountree Jr.

Khalil Rountree Jr., known to fans as "The War Horse," is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the light heavyweight division of the UFC.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Las Vegas, Rountree lost his father to gun violence as a toddler and endured a difficult adolescence marked by bullying and self-destructive habits. A chance viewing of a UFC light heavyweight champion competing on television became a turning point, steering him toward combat sports. He began training at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas under coach John Wood, who saw his potential immediately and pushed him to drop significant weight to compete at light heavyweight. Rountree later spent time training in Thailand at Tiger Muay Thai to sharpen his striking.

Before turning professional, Rountree compiled an undefeated amateur record and won titles with Tuff-N-Uff, a well-regarded regional amateur promotion. He went on to appear as a finalist on The Ultimate Fighter light heavyweight tournament, earning his spot on the UFC roster.

A southpaw striker with a kickboxing-influenced attack, Rountree is known for heavy hands, sharp kicks, and a willingness to engage in firefights that have produced numerous Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night bonuses. He has also drawn attention for unconventional weapons such as the oblique kick, which he used to score one of the promotion's more memorable finishes.

Over the course of his UFC tenure, Rountree has scored notable victories over Gokhan Saki, Anthony Smith, and Chris Daukaus, and earned a light heavyweight title opportunity against Alex Pereira
