Petr Yan

Petr Yan, known as "No Mercy," is a Russian mixed martial artist who competes in the bantamweight division of the UFC.

Born in Dudinka, Russia, Yan began combat training as a child in taekwondo before spending years in boxing, eventually earning Master of Sport rank in that discipline. He built his early MMA career on the Russian regional circuit, most notably with Absolute Championship Berkut, before signing with the UFC. He has trained across several elite camps, including RCC Academy in Russia, Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand, and American Top Team in Florida.

Yan holds Master of Sport credentials in both boxing and MMA and is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. On the Russian regional scene he won a bantamweight grand prix tournament and later captured a regional bantamweight championship, laying the foundation for his move to the UFC.

A supremely well-rounded striker, Yan is renowned for his sharp boxing combinations, hard leg kicks, and fight-changing head kicks, all delivered behind relentless forward pressure and cage control. He blends distance-based technical striking with punishing clinch work, and while many of his fights go to the scorecards, he has repeatedly shown the ability to finish durable, well-rounded opposition.

Yan's UFC highlights include a title-winning technical knockout of former featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 251 and a highlight-reel head-kick knockout of Urijah Faber. His championship reign was defined by one of the sport's most talked-about rivalries with Aljamain Sterling, and he added an interim title with a Fight of the Night win over Cory Sandhagen.
