Youssef Zalal

Youssef Zalal, known as "The Moroccan Devil," is a Moroccan-American mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division of the UFC.

Zalal was born in Casablanca, Morocco, where his mother enrolled him in kickboxing as a child to help channel his energy. His family relocated to the United States when he was a teenager, and he eventually settled in the Denver, Colorado area, where he built his mixed martial arts career. He turned professional in 2017, cutting his teeth on the regional circuit with organizations including the Legacy Fighting Alliance before earning a spot on the UFC roster.

Zalal holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and trains out of Factory X Muay Thai in Englewood, Colorado, under the guidance of head coach Marc Montoya, a gym that has produced numerous UFC competitors. His background blends jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and boxing, giving him a diverse toolkit inside the Octagon.

Stylistically, Zalal is best known as a submission specialist. He is comfortable working from top position or off his back, hunting for chokes and armbars, and he pairs that ground game with active, volume-based striking that lets him control range and set up entries to the clinch and takedowns. That combination has made him a persistent threat everywhere a fight goes.

Among the highlights of his UFC tenure, Zalal has recorded submission victories over Billy Quarantillo and Jarno Errens, the latter earning him a Performance of the Night bonus.
