The main event is Cory Sandhagen squaring off with the unbeaten Umar Nurmagomedov in a potential title eliminator bout for the bantamweight division. The pair were originally scheduled to headline UFC Nashville last year before Nurmagomedov withdrew due to injury. The victor will try to secure a title fight between the champion of Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili.

The co-main event showcases the Dagestani one-eyed prospect, Shara “Bullet” Magomedov vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk.

UFC Abu Dhabi Predictions & Betting Strategy

UFC Abu Dhabi marks the organization’s return to the Middle East. The event takes place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The preliminary card starts at noon EST (9 a.m. PT) on ESPN2 before the main card on ABC at 3 p.m. EST.

UFC Abu Dhabi

According to the UFC Abu Dhabi odds, Umar Nurmagomedov is the favorite at -310 (bet $310 to win $100). In comparison, Cory Sandhagen is in the underdog spot at +260 (bet $100 to win $260). The implied probability is a 75.61% win likelihood for Nurmagomedov.

Deiveson Figueiredo (-148) vs. Marlon Vera (+124)

Deiveson Figueiredo wasted no time vaulting into the bantamweight title contention due to victories over Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt. Marlon “Chito” Vera is going to be his toughest test yet. Vera is looking for a bounce back win after his flat performance against the bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley at UFC 299.

Figueiredo has been extremely impressive at 135, there is a rejuvenated energy around him in this new weight class. I’d imagine the weight cut to 125lbs was obliterating. Figgy’s technique translated perfectly up to bantamweight. Many people thought he would lose his speed advantage but that has not been the case.

Chito always starts slow. He uses the first round to analyze his opponent and download their movement. If you are “forfeiting” the first and sometimes second round, you will lose. Starting down 0-1 against Figueiredo is a horrible strategy. Vera will not have time to come back in a three round fight.

Figgy vs Chito is a phenomenal stylistic matchup that could be the Fight Of The Night. However, the pick is Deiveson Figueiredo. Strictly because he is capable of winning the fight in more ways. A prop bet would be Figueiredo by a decision.

Bet: Deiveson Figueiredo

Jai Herbert (-155) vs. Rolando Bedoya (+130)

Jai Herbert has been a prominent figure in the betting guides since October 2021, when he fought Khama Worthy. On paper, Herbert’s UFC record is unimpressive, as he compiled a record of (2-4-1). But he’s faced top-tier talent from the start. In his first two years, he fought Francisco Trinaldo, Renato Moicano, and Ilia Topuria. To date, Herbert is still the only fighter to knock down Topuria.

In Herbert’s roller coaster stint in the UFC, he’s battled some confidence issues. He hired a sports psychologist to get his mental game back on track. Hopefully, the former Cage Warriors Champion can rise against the mental demons.

I’ll die on the hill that Jai Herbert has the skill set to break into the top 15 of the Lightweight division. A battle against Rolando Bedoya should get him back on track. Bedoya is 0-2 in the UFC and it feels like the loser will no longer be on the roster.

The value of Herbert is phenomenal. If he can get out of his head, he will dominate Bedoya in Abu Dhabi.

Bet: Jai Herbert

UFC 304 Betting Recap: Our fight predictions were spot on again, cashing in on 4 out of 5 bets. The only incorrect fight prediction was Leon Edwards over Belal Muhammad. Edwards never looked like himself. The time difference seemed to have seriously affected him.
