Daniel Rodriguez

Daniel Rodriguez, known professionally as "D-Rod," is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Rodriguez was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, including time in Alhambra, California, where he grew up amid a difficult, gang-influenced environment and spent stretches of his youth in the criminal justice system. He did not follow a traditional amateur wrestling or boxing pipeline into combat sports; instead, he discovered mixed martial arts later than most of his peers, using the discipline of training as a way to redirect his life away from the streets. He turned professional in 2015 after compiling a 7-0 amateur welterweight record, then built his reputation on the regional circuit in Southern California before earning a UFC contract through a standout showing on Dana White's Contender Series.

His most notable verifiable credential is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under renowned grappling coach Eddie Bravo, reflecting the technical grappling instruction he has received alongside his striking development at camps including BMF Ranch and Syndicate MMA.

Fighting out of a southpaw stance, Rodriguez has built a well-rounded, physical style that blends heavy-handed boxing with underrated submission grappling, including guillotine chokes, armbars, and rear-naked chokes.
