Tai Tuivasa

Tai Tuivasa, known to fight fans as "Bam Bam," is an Australian heavyweight who competes in the UFC. Born to an Aboriginal mother and a Samoan father, Tuivasa grew up in Mount Druitt, in Western Sydney, one of twelve siblings. He initially pursued rugby league and was signed by the Sydney Roosters before shifting his focus to combat sports.

Tuivasa built his credentials the hard way, compiling a professional boxing record before turning fully to mixed martial arts in 2012. He announced himself as a finisher from the start, winning his first six professional MMA bouts by knockout and stringing together an extended run of stoppages that earned him a contract with the UFC in 2016. He made his octagon debut on home soil in Sydney, flooring an opponent with a flying knee in front of a raucous Australian crowd.

Training out of American Kickboxing Academy and TK MMA & Fitness, Tuivasa's game is built around heavy hands and a killer instinct on the feet. He mixes hard leg kicks, uppercuts and clinch work with the kind of one-punch power that has produced some of the heavyweight division's most explosive finishes, a run that at one stretch tied him for the fourth-most consecutive knockouts in UFC history.

Among his signature wins are a decision victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, a last-second uppercut knockout of Stefan Struve, a 67-second demolition of Greg Hardy on a marquee pay-per-view card, and a highlight-reel stoppage of former title challenger Derrick Lewis.
