Derrick James Lewis, known throughout the sport as “The Black Beast,” is an American heavyweight from Houston, Texas, who holds the UFC record for the most knockout victories in heavyweight history. Born on February 7, 1985, Lewis overcame a difficult upbringing and a prior criminal record to build one of the most unique careers in MMA: a fighter who routinely appears to be losing late in fights only to produce cataclysmic, fight-ending power strikes in the final moments.

Lewis made his UFC debut in 2014 and steadily accumulated a reputation as one of the most dangerous knockout artists in the sport despite an unorthodox fighting style built around low output and high patience.
