Renato Moicano

Renato Alves Carneiro Moicano, known as "Money" Moicano, is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the lightweight division of the UFC.

Born and raised in Brasilia, Brazil, Moicano began training judo as a child before moving into full mixed martial arts. He enrolled in law school with plans to become an attorney but left his studies after two years to pursue fighting professionally. After building his early career on Brazilian regional cards, he signed with the UFC and made his promotional debut in 2014. Following an early featherweight setback, he relocated from Brazil to Florida to train full-time at American Top Team, where he has been based since.

Moicano holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Alex Leleco, along with a black belt in Muay Thai, credentials that underline his standing as one of the division's more accomplished grapplers.

Inside the cage, Moicano is a submission-oriented grappler who pairs sharp boxing and calf-kick-heavy Muay Thai with high-level jiu-jitsu, often using strikes to set up takedowns and chokes rather than leaning on power alone. The rear-naked choke has become something of a signature finish across his career.

Before joining the UFC, Moicano won an interim featherweight title with Brazil's Jungle Fight promotion. Once in the UFC, he earned a Fight of the Night bonus opposite Brian Ortega and a Performance of the Night bonus for his finish of Cub Swanson, and after moving up to lightweight he picked up a notable decision win over Calvin Kattar.

Beyond competition, Moicano has cultivated a public identity around his "Money" persona, adopted after an animated post-fight speech, and has become known for outspoken commentary on libertarian economics and Bitcoin, extending his profile well beyond the cage through a sizable YouTube following.
