Marlon Vera
Marlon Andrés Vera Delgado, known to fans as "Chito," is an Ecuadorian mixed martial artist competing in the bantamweight division of the UFC.
Born in Chone, in Ecuador's Manabí province, Vera relocated to Guayaquil as a teenager, where he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He turned professional in 2012 and built his name on the Latin American regional circuit before earning a spot on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, competing for Team Werdum. That run led directly to a UFC contract, and Vera has remained a fixture of the bantamweight ranks ever since, developing his game under coach Colin Oyama's team in Irvine, California.
Vera holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and his ground game is built around a dangerous triangle choke that has produced multiple finishes throughout his career. That grappling pedigree, paired with the volume and durability he has shown across dozens of UFC bouts, has made him one of the division's most tested and respected competitors.
What separates Vera stylistically is his creativity on the feet. He fights out of unorthodox angles, mixing spinning attacks, Superman punches, and an array of kicks with sharp elbows in the clinch, and he has racked up more finishes than any other fighter in UFC bantamweight history. Two moments capture that inventiveness best: a front kick that knocked out former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 268, and a head kick that stopped former champion Dominick Cruz
